Sony unveils SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk Fitness Tracker; pricing €229

As rumored, Sony has launched two new wearables at IFA 2014. The Sony Smartwatch 3 is the company’s first wearable to run Google’s Android Wear software — and it’s one of the first to support new Android Wear features including GPS.

The company has also added SmartBand Talk to the lineup, a fitness tracker with an e-ink display.
Both are expected to be available this fall.

It pairs with a smartphone over Bluetooth, or works in standalone mode. The Smartwatch 3 offers up to 2 days of battery life, a waterproof case, and support for notifications, music controls, and other basic Android Wear features. It also has Sony apps including the company’s Lifelog app.

The smartwatch has a 1.6 inch, 320 x 320 pixel TFT LCD transflective screen, 4GB of storage, and a built-in mic for voice controls.

On the other hand, the SmartBand Talk  has a battery lasting up to 3 and thanks to its low-power 1.4 inch e-ink screen and less power-consuming software.

As the name implies, this model offers a microphone and speaker, as well as sensors for activity tracking. You can pair them to your phone and answer phone calls. And like most of Sony’s recent mobile devices, the SmartBand Talk is water and dust proof.

The SmartWatch 3 is expected to cost €229  in Europe while the SmartBand Talk will be a bit cheaper at €159.
