KDDI Corp showed off its new Linux based e-book reader “biblio Leaf SP02”, Announced early October, this linux based (note android) e-Book reader comes with a 6” 800×600 monochrome screen comes with KDDI 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and 2GB of internal memory expendable via a microSD Card. As it is the biblio Leaf SP02 is capable with its 2GB of internal memory to store up
to 3000 books.Compared to most other eReaders available out there, the biblio Leaf SP02 manages to differentiate itself by adding a small solar panel to the bottom of the device, this being used for prolonging the battery's life when found in direct sun light.
Built by Foxcom in Taiwan, this E-Book reader comes with internal battery and will let you reach up to 13,000 continuous pages. As it’s featured the solar panel.
at launch, the KDDI website will carry up to 20,000 titles, which are to be expanded over the course of the following year (the company expects 100,000 titles to be available at the end of 2011), the e-Books being delivered via the LISMO Book Store service.
According to reports, the SP02 has an "open" price of around ¥15,000 (about $180 in US currency), with 3G prices ranging from ¥525 per month for data on a two-year contract, or ¥1,575 without ($6.28 vs. $19, respectively).
