Kno began shipping of its educational dual and single screen tablets, and the company reaches major milestone with first customer ship this week.Kno’s single screen is priced at $599 (16GB) and $699 (32GB) while the dual screen model goes for $899 (16GB) and $999 (32GB)
Kno, short for knowledge, is a unique 14.1 touch-screen tablet that blends textbooks, course materials, note-taking, web access, educational applications, digital media, sharing and more into a more powerful and engaging educational experience. Kno also offers a digital bookstore, which includes tens of thousands of textbooks from most of the major publishers, with new books being added regularly, and, instead of the usual Android OS, run a seriously customized version of Linux.

Regardless of the model, the Kno tablet's display delivers 1440-by-900 WXGA pixel resolution at HD resolutions, accompanied by an Nvidia Tegra T200 series CPU (based on a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore) reaching a speed of up to 1.0 GHz and accompanied by 512 MB on-board memory and eigher 16 GB or 32 GB flash memory (single and dual screen), for storage purposes. The tablets also sport WiFi and Bluetooth modules, a 3-axis accelerometer, as well as an ambient light sensor, while the built-in 50.6-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery delivers up to 6 hours of normal campus use.

Kno’s tablets are unique for students since digital textbooks typically cost between 30 and 50 percent less than physical textbooks and the Kno pays for itself in 3 semesters with the money students save in textbook costs.
