Amazon is preparing to open its own Android App store; Amazon's store will officially open later this year. Much like Apple's App Store, Amazon will approve applications submitted to the Amazon Appstore Developer Portal before adding them to the store.
Rob Enderle, principal analyst at the Enderle Group, noted that "Amazon is the first retailer to do a store, and they will differentiate on marketing the apps and higher quality control. This could be a big game changer because, after all, this is a store."
Amazon is launching the Android Appstore as a service to its customers, according to spokesperson Anya Waring.
"Given the sheer number of apps available today, it's really hard for customers to find high quality and relevant products at great prices," she told.
"If Amazon does it a lot better and puts it together in a way so consumers can find what they're looking for, it would be very appealing," Mark Beccue, an analyst with ABI Research said,
Amazon has spent years developing innovative features to help customers find and discover relevant products, spokesperson Waring explained.
"We're excited to take those key learnings and innovations and apply those to the apps market segment," she said.
Amazon is also rolling out new apps for its market-leading Kindle e-reader. The company just released a "Buy Once, Read Everywhere" Kindle app for Android-based tablets.
"Many people are buying both a Kindle and an LCD tablet computer," said Dorothy Nicholls, director of Amazon Kindle. "We're very excited to support the upcoming Android and Windows LCD tablet computers with free Kindle apps that we'll tailor for the particular devices. Our Whispersync technology makes it simple to move back and forth between devices."
Anyway, let’s see the competition between Google and Amazon, I think it could help a less price for android apps
