Codenamed Honeycomb Android 3.0 has been demonstrated by Google at CES in Las Vegas. It’s quite different from Mobile version Android and it’s fully dedicated to Tablets.
Honeycomb is the next version of the Android platform, designed from the ground up for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets. Perhaps the best thing to say is that this looks more or less nothing like Android. Sure, the browser is the same, and the Gmail app will be familiar to iPad users, but trust us when we say there's a lot of lovely UI in the video above
The widgets also seem to be redesigned, making better use of the larger screen area as compared to a smartphone. The browser looks a lot more like Google's Chrome browser on PCs, with tabs that occupy the top-most row. There's also a Google eBooks app with the same page-flipping animations seen on the iPad. Another design aspect "inspired" from the iPad's UI is the new Gmail app, which shows a message list in one pane, while the actual message in the pane next to it.
Honeycomb also features the latest Google Mobile innovations including Google Maps 5 with 3D interactions and offline reliability, access to over 3 million Google eBooks, and Google Talk, which now allows you to video and voice chat with any other Google Talk enabled device (PC, tablet, etc).
Android 3.0 should make a revolutionary change in tablets usability, after all it’s not sure that previous tablets which running on previous version of android get this version as update since new Honeycomb tablet may not have any buttons that typically Android devices have. Check out the video below and feel Honeycomb.
