Microsoft debuted IE9 RC at the Hang Art Gallery in San Francisco this morning. in fact the link for download somehow had been made available before the official announcement. The Software giant was planning to launch the IE9 RC at this event in San Francisco. But the link for download was being leaked. With this new version Microsoft has made so many improvements in overall performance has made available some features to compete with other Browsers out there such as Firefox, Chrome etc...
Microsoft’s main improvement in Internet Explorer 9 is the inclusion of Tracking Protection. The new privacy feature lets users to address their concerns about being tracked on the web. Internet Explorer 9 RC gives users a new opt-in mechanism to find and block many forms of undesired tracking such as cookies, web beacons, advertisements and trackers. Tracking protection involves lists that can be published online. Microsoft expects technical users to create lists initially followed by consumers once Internet Explorer 9 is generally available later this year.
Unlike Mozilla's implementation of the protection, IE9 uses both the header and customizable blacklists, said Internet Explorer business and marketing Senior Director Ryan Gavin in an interview yesterday. "Using only the header is too narrow a solution," he added.
In this new IE9 RC Pinned Sites can now include multiple tabs, And if you’ve avoided IE because it lacks a way to block Flash-enabled sites, pay attention: the RC adds a new feature called ActiveX filtering that could easily be called FlashBlock Plus. For people unfamiliar with why ActiveX technology is potentially dangerous, to function it requires full access to the operating system that the browser is running in. The new ActiveX filter gives you the ability to restrict ActiveX on a per-site basis, with a toggle in the location bar.
IE9 RC also has expanded the support for HTML5 and other "future-Web" technologies. These include support for the geolocation feature, HTML5 semantic tags, CSS3 2D transforms, and support for the WebM video codec. It will make IE9 more user-friendly with HTML5 and the inclusion of HTML 5 has been must for browsers nowadays, as most developers turn to HTML5, and the WebM support for IE9 will surely satisfy the intention of Google and now for HTML5 we can expect a global Codec for Video tag. And it will allow you to see any video without any plug-in such as flash or silverlight.
And other minor improvement is that the default maximum temporary Internet file size has been expanded to 250MB from 50MB that means, while your cache will be significantly bigger on disk, IE can store more data locally and make it that much quicker to load Web content.
Performance of IE9 is noticeably improved over the beta and better than any previous version of IE, and If you gave up on IE years ago because it was slow or buggy or insecure, it’s worth taking a second look at IE9, now that the beta label has been removed.
