Toshiba 55ZL1 HDTV unveiled with Specs and Release Date

Toshiba revealed release date and specs of new flagship HDTV dubbed 55ZL1, and the The 55″ model will be available in Europe this May.


55ZL1 will be the first HDTV from Toshiba that utilizes new CEVO-ENGINE, the new HDTV is capable to perform perform 2D to 3D conversion, 3D depth control, HDD video recording, Auto Calibrations and a face recognition that switches to your personal settings after it identifies you with its integrated camera. It means once you set your preference you don't have to worry about the settings being changed by other from your home.

The 55ZL1 also takes localized dimming to the next level with the world's first 512 cluster LED panel comprising a total of 3,072 LEDs for improved contrast and a peak brightness of 1,000 cd/m2. This also allows the TV to achieve a brightness level comparable to regular 2D viewing and overcome the dimming that usually results from using active shutter glasses in 3D mode.

In this new HDTV you can also personalize channels you like, so you don't have to scroll down whole the channels that you may not like. It also comes with WLAN to support Toshiba’s SMART-TV online platform for users to stream, purchase and share web-based content. Toshiba also announced that it intends to produce more affordable version of the TV later this year with this technology.
