Apple iPad is going to have rivals as Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook (running on RIM’s own Tablet OS) , yet in the market there hasn’t been any android tablet that run on Google’s Version of Android particularly for Tablet. Instead, most of them are running on Smartphone based Android with maximum of Android 2.2 Froyo. So there is nothing amazing to evaluate Android Tablet like XOOM as a rival as it’s the first tablet to run highly anticipated Android version Honeycomb which is expected to be challenging to iPad with features so let’s make an evaluation with iPad with XOOM also a little with PlayBook .
iPad 2 yet to be announced though, no one has real idea about what features are going to bewith iPad 2 under the hood. At CES Motorola Xoom really caught the attracti09n of almost people who were really watching from outside with its specs and attractive UI. Motorola is also going to launch LTE version of XOOM via Verizon. This makes a real challenge to iPad.
Whereas, people get Apple iPad as it is user-friendly with all features that provide in America Apple has great fans that deliberately get iPad without a second thought about its specs and features. While comparing iPad with XOOM, Xoom has some great features that iPad doesn’t have, such as XOOM is powered with Dual-Core NVIDIA Tegara 2 Processor capable of 720p video or sending 1080p full HD to your TV via HDMI, iPad runs Apple's own A4 processor clocked at 1GHz.
Motorola XOOM gives you an option to increase the memory with Micro SD Slot according to your needs it’s a great benefit. Moto says that as soon as the OS permits it, you'll be able to use up to 32GB of removable storage. As you'll know, the iPad doesn't have any kind of slot – though it has 16 or 32GB on board flash storage of course.
Apple iPad doesn’t have Camera (it may be changed when the iPad 2 hits the market, anyway we can’t compare anything with that one as its specs are unknown) but The Xoom has two cameras front (2MP) and a 720p capturing back 5MP camera with a dual LED flash. RIM’s The Playbook also has two cameras – a 3MP front-facing camera and a 5MP rear-facing one.
While the Display of XOOM is 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800, iPad has 9.7-inch 1024x768. Motorola XOOM will work on Bothe 3G and later version with 4G LTE, iPad is Wi-Fi only of course. All have 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi. The Xoom and PlayBook also support HDMI output to a TV – the iPad supports AirPlay for wireless streaming via Apple TV.
According to Engadget, the Motorola Xoom is expected to launch on February 17th at Best Buy and be priced at $700 dollars. The iPad is priced at $499 to $699 for the WiFi-only model, and $629 to $829 for the Wi-Fi/3G model. Price depends on the storage size of both versions.
Anyway, you have to decide which one gets power over the other with specs and usability, this comparison is just with unreleased XOOM, so let’s wait for a real experience with the device when it’s launch.
